Physics with Labs

Prerequisite: Students must have completed Algebra I and Geometry and have a basic knowledge of trigonometric functions

The science of physics is an attempt to explain everything that is observed in nature. This class is designed as a college-prep physics course. Some important concepts covered are one and two-dimensional motion, Newton’s laws and their applications in nature, work and energy, electricity, magnetism, momentum, periodic motion, and waves and optics. Students will also complete experiments during class to help bring the concepts to life and aid in student’s understanding.

Materials Needed:  2nd edition of Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Physics text and solutions manual, 3-ring binder, pen or pencil, and a scientific calculator.

Teacher Biography

Karen Stokes holds a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from N.C. State University. She has been a homeschool mom for 10 years and has been teaching science to students for the past 8 years. She likes to take a hands-on approach to science, giving students the opportunity to experiment with concepts they are learning. She loves helping students understand complicated scientific concepts and the world around them.
