Chemistry with Labs
Prerequisite: Students must have completed Algebra 1
In this course, students will cover topics such as the classification of matter, thermodynamics, atomic structure, chemical bonding, molecular geometry, stoichiometry, solutions, ideal gases, acid/base chemistry, oxidation-reduction reactions, kinetics, and chemical equilibrium. Students will also complete laboratory experiments during class that aid in understanding of the material.
Materials Needed: Chemistry Precision & Design, 3rd edition student book by Abeka, Chemistry, 3-ring binder, pen or pencil, and a scientific calculator.

Karen Stokes holds a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from N.C. State University. She has been a homeschool mom for 10 years and has been teaching science to students for the past 8 years. She likes to take a hands-on approach to science, giving students the opportunity to experiment with concepts they are learning. She loves helping students understand complicated scientific concepts and the world around them.
