Forensic Science

With today’s popular television programs about criminal justice and crime scene investigation and the surge of detective movies and books, students often have a passion for exploring forensic science.  In this course, students will combine math, chemistry, biology, physics, and earth science as they learn about the techniques used in forensic science. This class will balance extensive scientific concepts with hands-on classroom and lab activities, intriguing case studies, and careers in forensics.

Biology with Labs

This course covers botany, human anatomy and physiology, zoology, and cellular biology and genetics. It also includes chapters on ecology and evolution, and makes a great case for creation with specific facts that are confirmed throughout the book by looking at the intricate design of God’s creation. In class we will discuss the chapter and complete most of the labs in the lab book to aid in understanding of the material. The labs will include dissections of a sheep eye and heart, bullfrog, perch, starfish, crayfish, and earthworm.

Weather and Earth Science

During the fall semester of this course, we will study the atmosphere and oceans of our planet earth. We will discover what weather is, what causes it, and how meteorologists study and predict it. In class, students will make their own weather station that they will use to record weather conditions at home.

Swimming Creatures

Apologia’s second zoology book will take your student on an exploration into the wonders of the swimming creatures made on the fifth day of creation. We’ll begin with a big splash from the whales and dolphins, then spy on seals and meet manatees before swimming with the sea turtles, snakes, and salamanders. We will also learn about crustaceans, sea snails, clams, corals, and sea sponges.
