Spanish 1 B will complete the Spanish 1 Curriculum that began with Spanish 1A. This course is recommended for younger learners and those new to second language acquisition. Supplemented with music, games, role playing, and collaborative opportunities in the classroom, this class will balance verbal fluency with grammatical understanding in a fun, engaging environment. Geography and cultural studies of Spanish‐speaking countries will also be incorporated. Small weekly homework assignments will reinforce and solidify classroom learning.

History Class

America has been shaped by many fascinating people and spectacular events.  In this class, we will explore the lives of several Americans, plus events from America's past through a literature-based study enhanced by hands-on activities.  We will touch on geography, vocabulary, writing, in-class discussions and fun activities to enhance the student's learning.

Weather and Earth Science

During the fall semester of this course, we will study the atmosphere and oceans of our planet earth. We will discover what weather is, what causes it, and how meteorologists study and predict it. In class, students will make their own weather station that they will use to record weather conditions at home.

Writing IEW - Following Narnia: Volume 1 - The Lion's Song

Using the first three novels from The Chronicles of Narnia series, this course will enable 5th -  7th grade students to experience the enchanted land of Narnia through the “Structure and Style” writing method. The Institute for Excellence in Writing teaching methods have helped many students to become successful and competent communicators.  In this course students will move through each of the nine units in a step by step fashion with clear directives that will help to reduce confusion and build confidence in their writing ability.

Art

Art Classes will be an exploration of the principles and elements of design, artists, techniques, and art history to inspire each students' personal creative style.  We will be working on two dimensional and three dimensional projects where we will be painting, drawing, making collages and mosaics, sculpting, and printmaking (just to name a few)! Students will use a great variety of mediums including water-based paints, papers, leather, wood, and more.
