Trigonometry/Precalculus

This is a high school credit course for students who have completed Algebra 2.  This course will include a review of algebraic concepts, as well as a refresher on logic, reasoning, and proofs.  We’ll study all manner of trigonometric concepts including functions and equations.  There will also be emphasis on visualizing these operations through the unit circle.  Concepts that have been studied before in lower level classes will be revisited in a more advanced form including logarithms, polynomial factoring, word problems and the sets of numbers.  Finally, there will

Geometry

Geometry is the mathematical study of shapes.  In this course we will start with basic ideas about points, lines and planes.  From there, we’ll expand to polygons and circles and learn about perimeter and area.  Special emphasis will be given to triangles as we’ll study their angles with introductory trigonometry and we’ll learn about similarity and congruence with formal proofs.  We will compare the relationships between circles and intersecting lines.  3-D shapes will be introduced as well and a lot of time will be given to study formulas for volume and surface ar
