Description:  A beginning writing class for middle school students. Students will experience various kinds of writing, beginning with creative writing and moving to expository, narrative and persuasive writing through brainstorming, drafting, editing, and revising to their finished composition. Assignments in class and at home will give students practice in writing. The only pre-requisite to this class is for students to be familiar with writing sentences and basic grammar.

Materials needed:  All writing instructions and supporting materials provided by teacher from Razzle Dazzle: Write with the Best. Please bring to class a three-ring binder, notebook paper, pencils and highlighter of any color.

Description:  Do you have a struggling or reluctant middle school reader? This interactive class will be using novels and literature guides to foster an interest in reading and provide confidence for those reluctant to dig into books by themselves. Grading will be based on reading the assigned chapters for the week, participation in class discussion, completion of homework and related projects outside of class, and a test at the end of each book. We will use the literature guides in class for discussion and expounding on the week's reading.

Materials Needed:  Memoria Press student literature guides and corresponding novels for:  Robin Hood by Roger Lancelyn Green; The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien; The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare; The Trojan War by Olivia Coolidge.

We will also be doing some poetry and short stories - materials to be determined.

Other materials needed:  A folder for handouts and ntoes, pens or pencils, and extra paper for writing as needed.
